About Me
My name is Trudi (she/her) and I am a Registered Occupational Therapist and Psychotherapist. I was born and raised in Loyalist Township, next door to beautiful Kingston, Ontario. I have an Honours Bachelor of Science Degree in Rehabilitation Therapy from Queen's University and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (Psychotherapy) from Yorkville University. I have 28 years of clinical experience. My dual training and years of experience working in mental health have provided me with a unique perspective to help you reach your goals.
I do everything I can to understand and appreciate your unique challenges.
I am a registered provider with Veteran's Affairs Canada/Medavie Blue Cross and my services are covered by most third party insurers including Canada Life, SunLife, and Manulife.

I have worked extensively with clients who have mental health concerns throughout my 28+ year career, most recently with military veterans and others suffering from PTSD, depression, anxiety, and chronic pain. I have experience working with ADHD, grief, and chronic illness. As a Psychotherapist, I understand the need to have your story heard. As an Occupational Therapist, I have specific knowledge of barriers to daily function. Together, we can work towards removing those barriers so that you can live the life you want to live.
I offer a non-judgmental, therapeutic environment where you can share what is on your mind while we walk your chosen path together to help you build strength, resilience and self-compassion. Laura Nicholson, LSP C. Psychologist is available to me to provide experienced consultative guidance through our journey together.
You can choose to have your sessions virtually through my secure online platform, or in-person in my private, cozy office space at 1040 Gardiners Road, Kingston (across from RONA+).
I have held the position of Adjunct Clinical Instructor at Queen's University in the School of Rehabilitation Therapy for the past 20 years, providing clinical education to students in the Occupational Therapy program. In my non-clinical time, I am a Skate Canada Sectional-level figure skating Judge and Technical Official. I can usually be found in an arena, or spending time with my family and two beautiful large-breed fur babies at my home in rural Loyalist Township.

About Psychotherapy
The Therapeutic Relationship
Psychotherapy is a process where you and I will work together to identify your strengths and set goals to help you address and overcome your concerns. Therapy is a collaborative process where your input and feedback are important and always welcome. I invite you to share with me if you feel something is not working well, or if you feel like you would like to try something different.
Session Format
Therapy sessions can be conducted virtually through a secure online platform or in my private office space and are 50 minutes in length. During the session, I may do one or more of the following:
-
Listen to your thoughts, feelings and concerns
-
Help you identify goals that will help you overcome obstacles that present a barrier to your overall well-being
-
Help you identify strengths and resources to work towards your goal(s)
-
Help you identify thoughts, feelings or behaviours that may be interfering with you reaching your goals
-
Use specific empirically proven interventions that are appropriate to your goals
-
Conduct formal and/or informal assessments to measure your progress
-
Suggest additional reading and/or homework assignments to maintain momentum or provide additional insight for therapy
